Session Objectives:
By the end of this session participants will be able to:
1. Pass the ball along the ground to a static target.
2. Pass the ball to a moving target.
3. Pass the ball whilst moving to a target
Session Evaluation
As this is my first session with the group I want to ensure I have full control over the group and like the boys session start with an autocratic coaching style. (Horn, 2002) The ability of the group is very mixed and this became very apparent whist doing the first drill which was passing in pairs.
I was informed at the start of this session that one participant has severe learning difficulties but was really enthusiastic and wanted to take part in the sessions. This I decided was going to be my project over the next six weeks and I am going to do my best to make all sessions simple for her to under stand and take part in, also ensuring team cohesion. (Weinberg, 2006)
I chose the pairs to ensure the skill levels where equally paired off but also to ensure that nobody was left out. After explaining the basic pass and technique most of the participant began showing a good level of understanding and I moved it on to passing with the partner with out a ball moving in to space to receive the pass.
All the learning objectives were met but a lot more work will be needed to be done before players properly appreciate the importance of looking up before making a pass. All session objectives were completed but I do feel over all control could be improved when receiving a pass from team mate.
